Video an the moving web
I have been browsing no more than some, not less than others. As it is impossible to travel everywhere on earth it is even more utopic (and boring) to be in every single corner from the three wwws. However, in some of those trips you end up amazed by the exceptional quality of some local bakery site, while some much bigger companies have a much more ugly web-face.
In these days of You Tube and video-in-every-small-digital-camera, this support is again spreading and experiencing a new revolution in shape and content. In the marketing field, while having a web site is now almost a must, this video revolution is called to spread more and more as the uses of video in the internet is also easier and more common every day.
Text, photo, video
As an example, the web sites of major newspapers are currently experiencing this format conversion. Written text and pictures share more and more space with short videos and links to You Tube and similar sites. Will video fill more space also in the net? As for what can be seen the answer seems to be yes. Of course not all web sites need/require video contents but the impact of the moving image for some of them is clear.
We all, content creators
At this point we face an interesting question. Who is going to produce those contents? Will the support define the contents? Again several answers will raise. You might have heard about a web made by the people. With phenomenons like Blogging and You Tube it is quite clear that everyone is now a content creator. It has happened with written text and image and it will probably happen too with video and television.
The video production companies role
As the ease of use is growing, the participation of all users in content creation is evident. On the other hand, in the case of video -as it can be with photography- there is a demand of content providing. As the amounts of information grow, it does as well the need of adjusting contents and to be at the same level as others (if we refer to marketing purposes). When one newspaper includes video in its web site, the rest will surely follow. The role of traditional video companies is and needs to be then notorious, and so it is their need to evolve to cover and take advantage of new media supports.
